Career as a Gas Engineer

Work Hours & Environment

Gas engineers and installers typically work 35 - 40 hours per week with the ability to work extra hours in the evenings and at the weekends which is likely to result in increased pay due to the unsocial hours of weekend and evening work.

It is likely that when you get a job you are provided with a van and telephone so you can visit customer premises and also keep in touch with your office. Potential customers are likely to include residential properties, offices and industrial sites.

As a gas engineer and installer you will have a variety of jobs from fixing a cooker to installing a central heating boiler. You could work on the building site of a new set of homes, an industrial factory, commercial offices, or residential property. The variety of work and projects can make this career attractive and very stimulating.
